Taking Action Together
Community is more than in our name. It is the power behind everything we do. We listen, we act, we bring people and organisations together to tackle inequality, create opportunities and build a fairer, healthier and more sustainable future.

OUR WORK
SUPPORTING WOMEN AND GIRLS
Providing support that empowers women and girls to overcome barriers and access wider opportunities
Newham Community Project works with women and girls experiencing poverty, social isolation, barriers to accessing services and opportunities, or rebuilding their lives after domestic abuse. We provide comprehensive, trauma-informed support, helping women and girls improve their wellbeing, develop skills and confidence, build supportive relationships and contribute to decisions affecting their lives and communities.
Imra’a, Here I Stand, Here I Stay is one of our projects supporting women and girls. Imra’a is a community-led initiative that has developed a framework for supporting survivors of domestic abuse after their immediate safety needs have been addressed.

Three areas where local knowledge leads to practical change.
CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION
Community-led action for healthier, greener and more sustainable neighbourhoods
Newham Community Project is committed to helping create healthier, greener and more sustainable communities. Our climate and environmental work is community-led, making practical action accessible and ensuring that residents experiencing poverty and inequality are not left behind. This growing area of our work includes energy efficiency, sustainable living, climate awareness and community resilience.
Powering Communities is one of NCP’s climate and environmental projects, helping households reduce energy use, lower associated carbon emissions and manage rising costs. Through workshops and individual Bill and Budget Check-Ups, residents learn practical ways to improve energy efficiency and adopt more sustainable household practices.

REFUGEE AND MIGRANT SUPPORT
Strengthening inclusion for refugees and migrants to access support and participate in community life
Newham Community Project works with refugees and migrants experiencing poverty, destitution, isolation, language or digital barriers, and difficulties accessing essential services. We provide practical support, casework, advocacy, digital inclusion, skills development and opportunities for community participation.
Within this area of our work, the Newham Community Research Network (CRN) is a five-year community research programme connecting residents, community organisations, academic partners and local government. NCP leads the Refugee and Migrant strand, linking local networks for collaboration, and training community members as Citizen Social Scientists to research community priorities.
